For Writers

Here are links of interest to resources Jonathan has found helpful during his time writing. It will expand over time.

The goal with these resources is to focus on the common errors that will get your manuscript tossed out on reasons other than subjectivity. If you can think of a good resource that should belong here, e-mail us and let us know.

Resources

  • Keep it Active“: Author Sandy Tritt’s excellent guide on how easy it is to sabotage your own story’s pacing and momentum.
  • Proper Manuscript Format“: Author William Shunn’s guide to the de facto standard manuscript format used for submissions. This is what editors are looking for when they ask for this, and it is actually referenced by quite a few magazine’s guidelines pages.
  • Turkey City Lexicon“: An excellent guide. Lists common bad habits beginning writers tend to make.
