Excuse me while I…

Yes, I’ve been gone lately, in this case for a few days to Port St. Joseph, Florida. The fishing was lackluster, but the weather was terrific. I also had a few more ideas crop up while I was down there.
On the writing front, I’ve some good news, but I don’t want to jinx myself by telling all early. I should know more by the end of June.
As far as other action this week, a string of disappointments:
To which I reply: “Ack”, “Damn”, and “Ah, well”. Still not hitting the consistency I want yet, but I always appreciate punctuality from the editors.
What’s the possible good news? Even possible good news is better than bad news. Let us live vicariously through your success 🙂
I’ve recently been rejected by Apex and Darker matter. Got “Does not meet our needs at this time, but please submit in the future” style responses. Not sure if these are of the form letter type or not. And Aberrant Dreams has had one of my stories for about 5 months now. In the future I think I’ll pass on submitting to magazines that have such a long reading time.
I always wonder about those kinds of rejections. I simply don’t know. My guess is there are several templates used by the various mags, and run the gamut from “droning form rejection” to “encouraging rejection”.
