Frustration begets Drive
April 30, 2008 in General Topics
I had a long walk with my wife the other night, and I shared with her some frustrations I’ve been having with fiction writing in general. It helped, and yet I keep finding myself smacked in the head by it over and over again.
Can I discuss it? Probably not, at least not with anyone other than close friends good to their word. I’d love to compare my impressions to those of some other writer — see what they think — but the last thing I want is a long drama-filled debacle erupting on my own website.
My wife’s advice was simply: some things you won’t be able to change, so either embrace it, or roll with it.
The upside is that this frustration fuels work on a certain special project of mine.
And when it breaks sometime this year or next, in the words of Teddy Roosevelt: Watch out for me.
