So I think I’ve finally crossed the imaginary boundary with the comments received back from the Expert Reader, in which I’ve hopefully made enough revisions to satisfy any lingering concerns he or I had about the story as a whole.

I’m still waiting to hear back on, well — all of my stories. The latest ones were submitted in the middle of June, so I should start getting some sort of pop back anytime soon. In the meantime, editing continues on The Tyrant Stratagem.

Friday I submitted a story that I can’t help but think is one of the strongest I have ever written. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed, not let myself get disappointed if it comes back as a rejection a few times, and — oh yes — move on to another small revision of The Tyrant Stratagem once again.

One of the great motivations for writing my latest novel, The Tyrant Stratagem (that I’ve been submitting around to agents), has been my personal dissatisfaction in the quality of dialogue in major mass-market novels. It seems we have a cancer eating at modern fiction, even the more insulated elements like speculative fiction.
