Sojourns Through Troubled Worlds, Now Available!
July 19, 2012 in General Topics
I’m very pleased to announce the release of my first short fiction collection, Sojourns Through Troubled Worlds, which is now available for your Nook, Kobo, Kindle, or app compatible with either of those three platforms, for the low, low introductory price of just $1.59.
Pick up a copy on Amazon, Kobo Books, or Barnes & Noble.
I think the description on the product pages sums things up nicely:
Malevolent, metal-scavenging microdrones (“Paston, Kentucky”). A collector’s car with a mind of its own, off for a drive through a nuclear holocaust (the two-time award-nominated “Best in Class”). An experienced climber tackling the most dangerous alien obstacle in the universe (“Spired”). These and other stories await the reader in Jonathan C. Gillespie’s debut short fiction collection, which brings together five killer tales from the author’s publishing history.
But more detail about what you’ll be getting for your $1.59 seems in order.
These aren’t “trunk stories”. This is a true collection of some of the best of my backlist and some of my best-received tales. To be fair, some are or will be available in free audio…
- “Spired” was featured on Variant Frequencies.
- “Best in Class” was as well, where it received a Parsec-finalist nod back in 2009 for Best fiction, Short form.
- “Todd Elrin and the Forever Reset” will be featured in an upcoming episode of the Dunesteef Audio Fiction Magazine.
- “Eee” once ran on the now-defunct Well Told Tales podcast.
…But what you’re getting here is a chance to get all the stories together, in one convenient book, without having to crawl the web or purchase copies of magazines, and this is the first time in print for three of the stories. You’ll also be getting “Paston, Kentucky”, which was previously only available in issue one of the very-missed and excellent Murky Depths.
(Parental warning: if you go and try to dig up these old podcast episodes, listen to them before your kids do. They are not edited for content. I used to write with a lot of profanity.)
The tales in the fiction collection are edited for bare-minimum profanity. Actually, I’m not even sure what’s left counts as profanity. In addition, they’ve all been given a polishing and revision, just for this collection.
So grab your copy, with my thanks, and enjoy some fiction for every reader.
Stay tuned.
